The Nancy Graves Grant for Visual Artists
The annual Nancy Graves Grant for Visual Artists was established through a provision of the artist's Last Will and Testament to support the work and artistic development of individual artists.
The following guidelines for the Nancy Graves Grants for Visual Artists were formalized by the Board of Directors of the Nancy Graves Foundation:
- Applications are by nomination only. The Nancy Graves Foundation cannot accept direct application requests.
- Nominators from different parts of the country are requested to provide the Foundation with the names of artists who may wish to explore a technique, medium or discipline different from the one for which they are primarily known. The artists may work alone or participate in a larger project for which funding is being sought from sources other than ours. Grants need not be based on specific projects. The artists must be residents of the United States, who have been working as artists for at least five years beyond their schooling.
- The nominated visual artists each receive an application to complete and return to the Foundation.
- A second panel of jurors reviews the completed applications and selects the artists to receive the annual Nancy Graves Grants for Visual Artists.
Nominators and jurors are selected by the Nancy Graves Foundation. Directors or employees of the Foundation and their families, and applicants to the current grant cycle and their families, are not eligible to serve on either panel.
The Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant requests.
